The Serbian Language

The Round Table identified the need to promote and expand the provision of the teaching and learning of Serbian in Britain as a priority and agreed at a meeting in Leicester in 2011 to establish a Working Group on the Serbian Language (RTWGSL) under the auspices of the Serbian Council of Great Britain, to take action in this area. The aim of the Working Group is to:

  •  standardise the way Serbian is taught in Britain,
  •  enhance quality, improve teaching methods
  •  train teachers
  •  expand the provision of Serbian language teaching
  •  obtain a recognised qualification for older learners
  •  develop relations with Serbian ministries and organisations that can enhance the provision of Serbian teaching in Britain
  • connect with other Serbian Diaspora communities interested in improving the teaching and learning of Serbian

SERBIAN LANGUAGE COURSES 24/25 ENROLMENT

Serbian Language Courses for Beginners, GCSE and A Level with a recognised qualification.

The Round Table is pleased to announce that it intends to run Serbian Language courses from September 2024 in partnership with the Azbukum Centre for Serbian Language and Culture in Serbia, offering a recognised qualification at the end of courses.

The courses have been designed by the Azbukum Centre (www.azbukum.edu.rs) which is based in Novi Sad and Belgrade and has been teaching Serbian as a foreign language to adults and young people since 1995. Azbukum courses were accredited by the Serbian Ministry of Education in 2017 and correspond to the European Common Framework of Reference for Languages (ECFRL), so their qualifications are recognised not only in Serbia but in Europe and beyond.
